How Great.

Portion sized.
There is this song that I hope will be passed down through my lifetime to the people who are learning about the greatness of God's love and sacrifice; it's called "How He Loves" by John Mark McMillan. Have you heard it? You've probably heard it a thousand or more times and read journals and blogs and watched videos about it too. This thought came to me when I was gorging on El Cherry Garcia, that we are God's Cherry Garcia and He is the teddy bear our husband won for us on our first date (you know, when applicable :) )

Deuteronomy 32:9 For the LORD's portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance.

It's not like God ever needed us, but he wanted us. And when we became His, we were all He ever needed; the human race was what He wanted all along. His love for us goes beyond all knowledge! I think about how guys may look at me in a disgusting manner, but that's how we treat God isn't? But he still shows favor towards us, amazing!
To say that God is our prize is strange to me. To have won a prize I must have done something, but with God.. I've done nothing to achieve holiness or favor with Him. More importantly, I can never do anything. But His importance and unforgettable grace is to me like the teddy bear a husband wins for his future wife at a fair. Jesus took the ball and threw it into the milk glasses so that I could always have something to bring us closer together and remember each other. Jesus won the prize for me, and that's the incredible thing.

Musing upon faith: Birds will always have their portion, but I will have my portion and my prize. How much greater must God love me?

Friday Night Loner

"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb."
Big dreams require some serious planning. If you want to be a CEO of a Fortune 500 company by the time you are 30, you may not want to be a lazy bum until you are 25; planning doesn't work that way. I've been amazed for a few weeks about God's planning and how he likes to knit [Psalm 139:13]. This God who spits stars and shines brighter than the largest star...likes to knit. He pulls the thread in and out and sometimes, he lets me choose the color of the thread. I may not be going to the college that I think I should be at for my dreams to come true, but God's knitting my future together this Friday night with colors of yarn that I could never imagine. Curve balls may come and go and I may be sitting here watching my favorite movie on tv with my mom, but I am ever so happy with being "stuck" here tonight as a Friday Night Loner.
Musing : What color will God knit with next...
